A decent local pub just off the quayside, dating from 1832, less touristy than some of the other nearby establishments. The interior is well described below and includes a pool table which was not in use. It's a family run pub, although owned by St Austell. Four Cornish beers on in reasonable condition, although Proper Job went off half way through pouring a pint; the Cornish Best was a most acceptable substitute. There were a few few bottled ciders on as well as Cornish Rattler, so there was a good choice of beverages available. There was live sports on TV, and they host live music acts. The locals weren't very welcoming, but the staff were much more pleasant and helpful. The pub is dog-friendly. There was basic pub grub on offer, which was well-cooked and good value. I'd be happy to return.

A nice little white rendered terraced Georgian styled St Austell pub with blackpaintwork around the door and sash windows. There is a small patio area in front of the pub in the narrow lane.

The interior has an L-shaped room around the serving bar that faces you on entry. The dining area is to the left, with the small bar area to the right. The decor has white and wood panelled walls, with white and beam ceiling and red patterned carpet in the dining area and stone floor in the bar. There is a nice stone fireplace with a stove fire. There is a lot of old photos, paticularly sea and naval based, as well as brass ephemera dotted about. They do food here though i didn't eat and can't comment on it. There is a TV, but this was not on at my visit and the background music was general stuff at a decent level. The service was very friendly and the clientele consisted of me and chap that turned out to be a folk-singer, with whom i had a great chat.

Beer; usual tap stuff with four St Austell beers on handpull; Tribute, Proper Job and a decent Tinners and Trelawny.

A more than nice enough little place and definitely worth a visit. It is a little sad that both pubs in Polruan serve the same real ales, however that should not distract from visiting.

Decent pub tucked away just round the corner from the quay. Friendly barman and a cosy looking interior, although we chose to sit on one of the very few tables in the lane at the front of the pub. Not much in the way of a view, but it was a warm day and nice to be outside.
Three St. Austell's beers on tap, plus Cornish Rattler cider.
