Converted from a bakery in the 1980s, this is an attractive back street pub with the feel of a country inn. Split level, the serving portion of the bar is at the lower level, adjacent to the entrance. The former bakery oven doors are set into the front of the bar counter, while directly opposite is a huge inglenook fireplace now containing a wood burning stove. Many of the beams and posts are reclaimed timbers from the ill-fated vessel that foundered off West Shore nearby, the mast is the one with the copper band around. The lower bar is flagged; the upper area, which is just a few steps higher, has a wooden floor, most of the tables here were set for eating with condiments on the tables and so on. The pub was certainly popular during my lunchtime visit with the majority eating up here. Evenings are more entertainment based though with regular live bands, open mic nights etc. The tables were a bit crammed in on the upper level, but there is more space in the bar. Decor includes maps, prints of the area and pictures of the sinking Flying Foam.
There were four hand pumps, Courage Directors, Wentworth Pale Ale, Facers North Star Porter and Conwy Welsh Pride. A decent choice and my beer was in fine condition.
Local CAMRA Summer Pub of the Season and GBG 2012 entry, for me, this is one of the better pubs in Llandudno and one I'd have no hesitation in returning to.
There is some pleasant outdoor seating both to the front and the rear of the pub.

Visited a few times during a trip to Llandudno and on balance it was my favourite pub. Tucked away down a back street so probably doesn’t get much passing trade, the best way to give directions is that it’s next door to the back entrance to the Palladium, the Wetherspoons. The name is derived from the fact that the building was once a bakery and you can see some old oven doors embedded into the bar, not sure if they are originals. The pub also has some other historic features in that the structure includes parts of the masts of the Flying Foam, a schooner that was wrecked on the shores of Llandudno back in the 1930’s. The look is completed by a large inglenook fireplace. From the exterior the pub has a traditional cottage look to it painted bright white with some nice floral displays. There are a few tables and chairs out the front and a nice paved patio area at the back. As well as the main part of the bar there’s a raised area which I suspect is used for private functions or for the live music they host each weekend. There’s a good menu although the open kitchen does have a habit of setting off the fire alarm as it did on one of my visits. Beer wise there is a good choice with four hand pumps, Directors and local Welsh Pride looked to be regulars with changing guests on the other two. The pub is cask marque accredited and every pint I had there was in good condition. There are also a number of bottled beers and ciders. Service was friendly and efficient and it was easy to get into conversation with the locals. Highly recommended whether it be for a quiet afternoon pint or a convivial evening out.

This used to be my local when kevin chin was the landlord! but sadly he's moved on..a great venue for live music and discos with the late daryl fletcher.. a new landlord with no respect or care for customers has wiped out all the good times, and my custom too....!
