Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Cottage Loaf

The Cottage Loaf is tucked away behind Llandudno's branch of Wetherspoon's. There is a small bar area as you enter, with a raised dining area off to the right and a further dining area to the rear. It is fairly dark inside the two front rooms, but quite cosy. A patio at the front also has plenty of seating. With the pub being well hidden, it is a reasonably tranquil setting.

Conwy Welsh Pride & Timothy Taylor Landlord are the regular ales. They also generally have something from Purple Moose. This was Elderflower Ale on our first visit, but was later replaced by High Hops. Other ales on were Strawberry Fields Kaleidoscope & Big Bog Padi. Padi was replaced by another of their beers (Spring Bog) on a subsequent visit. The real cider was Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon and there was also a perry from Dudda's Tun.

Food appears to be the main draw here, but drinkers are welcome and tables are kept reserved for drinkers. We decided to eat here on our final night, only to be told that the dining area was fully booked. However, if a table in the bar became available, we could take that and place an order, as long as it was before 7:30pm. It was just our bad luck that the first table became free at 7:31pm, but others were already being turned away. The stupid thing was that the restaurant areas had loads of empty tables. So what difference did it make where we sat?! A strange policy indeed and they lost any further business from us.

Upmarket rustic backstreet pub/diner which seems a lot older than many of the surrounding buildings. Previously a bakery, hence the name, converted in the 1980’s. Larger inside than you'd think; wood beamed ceiling, wood planks and an impressive inglenook with a stove. Large flagged front area with tidy raised sections to the side and rear as well as nice outside seating areas at the front and rear. Ale-wise it was Conwy Welsh Pride (NBSS 4) alongside Courage Directors, TTL, Big Bog and Weetwood – not bad, if a bit samey. Ate here and it was nice food, worth the ticket price. A nice comfy middle class place, though getting a seat just for drinking at peak times might well be a struggle.

Hidden in a backstreet, this place looks a bit like a restaurant, and indeed much of it is, however the middle part round the bar is very pubby, with stone floors and beams. Draught ales included Landlord, Directors, Conwy Welsh Pride and something I wrote down as Marston's Citra, although that could have been a mistake.

Very busy when I called in. I couldn't see the pumps very well due to people sitting at the bar but there were at least 4 ales on including Welsh Pride and Mad Hatter. I went for Mad Hatter which was fine. Worth a visit.

Tucked around the back of JDW - came up high on Tripadvisor for food but is also Cask Marque - so thought we would investigate.

Its a holiday pub for tourists. The place is all setup for dining, with the only comfortable place for drinkers on stools in front of the bar.

At least you can listen to the conversations... Punter: Timothy Taylor, is that from Wales? Barman - "I think its from Yorkshire".

It was a nice pint of Landlord - served in unusual branded, handled jugs.

Good for families / holiday makers.

Side street large pub, catering for a perhaps more upper class clientelle but actually comfortable very pleasant pub, very efficient, good beeer and well worth a visit

This is a converted bakery that was fairly quiet on my Thursday afternoon visit. It's obviously an old building with some original beams and has been renovated to a very high standard possibly a bit over modern for my liking.
The bar has six hand pumps which included a cider, Courage Directors, Brain's Reverend James, Purple Moose Fleetwing, Liverpool Organic 24 Carat Gold and Conwy Welsh Pride.
I went for the Fleetwing (£3.60) which is expensive for a 3.9% ABV beer but other Llandudno pubs were just as bad.
I found this place to be a bit trendy for Wales but would probably in future avoid Llandudno full stop rather than this place in particular.

Certainly well utilised when I visited on a glorious weather Sunday lunchtime. The tables out front and in the garden area outback were well utilised and the pub was doing a good trade, and had a decent vibe about it.
A row of five hand pumps on the bar and alongside the one dispensing the 6.5% Black Dragon Welsh Cider, was Courage Directors, Slaters Sorachi Ace, Welsh Pride from the Conwy Brewery and Our Ken from the Cottage Brewery, and the three regional ales we tried (yes, shock horror, we left the Directors alone) were well kept.
We also ate here and the food and service levels were also very good. Would certainly concur with other reviewers that this seemed one of the better pubs in Llandudno on the experience of our fleeting visit and I certainly wouldn’t hesitate returning here when next in town.

This pub has one split level large room, pretty much all set up for dining on my visit. It was very quiet which made it lacking in atmosphere. The JDW next door was heaving as well. This could well be explained by the fact that I was charged over £3 for my pint whilst the JDW was charging £1.99. 4 handpumps on the bar selling Courage Directors, Conwy Welsh Pride and a couple of guests. The two beers I had were in decent nick and I also managed to win a couple of quid on the quiz machine on the upper level. It's listed in the GBG 2012 and will also be in the 2013 edition. It's a decent pub and hopefully next time I call in it will have more customers.
