The barmaid acknowledged me prior as I waited and then refused to hand over the token cask of London Pride because "that ain't right" (she was correct) - how refreshing. So a half of Madri, the urbane gent's lout of the moment, it was. This is a buzzing local's pub, bright and brash. A main room with flagstone floor and wood panelling glooped in turquoise. There’s a nicer area up a step to the rear which has a herringbone floor. Pool, darts and TV football all present and correct. Indoor vaping allowed. Everyone having fun and the good service means that regardless of its obvious shortcomings for the traditional pub man this is a well-run place that knows its niche and serves it well.

This consists of a pleasant enough roughly L shaped room with a wooden floor and some exposed stone. It has a jukebox, prominent TVs and an obtrusive pool table that takes up a large area.
Sadly there is no real ale or any sign of it. I went for the Thatcher's Hazy (£3.90) which was weak, sweet, cold, gassy and expensive. It was a parody of a proper cider.
With nothing worth drinking here and despite being a pleasant room it's a complete waste of time.

Probably the liveliest, most colourful and proper pub in town, ably overseen by landlord Dickie. Packed at the weekend. Not brilliant for real ale/ciders.
