Large pub on the Newport to Shrewsbury road , very food led , you can tell as soon as you enter and come face to face with a massive wine rack , the bar area is to the left with a couple of seating areas facing the bar , further around is another area with a pool table , to the right of the entry through large glass doors is the large resturant , the decor is clean and tidy , lots of wood and all the seating throughout is in dark brown leather , very busy on my Sunday lunchtime visit , but service was very good , the food was good and very good value .
Usual keg taps and three handpulls with Directors , Golden Hen and Batemans Hooker which was in decent nick .
Overall not a bad pub but more for food than drink

Excellent local pub, easy to get to, it's on the main road from Shrewsbury to Newport. We had an excellent meal, great menu, well presented, pleasant young staff, beer was great and the host couple were nice, would recommend and look forward to going again! EXCELLENT ALL ROUND PUB.

I have an ancestor Christopher WRIGHT who was the Innkeeper at this public house from 1885 - 1917+. Can anyone give me any info on this hose around this time? Thanks
