Slightly disappointing town centre pub which seems to be much more geared up to eating than traditional pub activities. It has a fairly bland, modern interior, although there is a garden at rear. Draughts ales on offer were Doom Bar and 49er, neither of which were in the best condition.

While awaiting for a bus to Shanklin where I was staying I popped in The George for a quick pint of bitter as it is right next to the bus station, the pub was quite busy how'ever I was charged £4.00 for a pint of average bitter, it was my first pint on the Island and by far the most expensive.

A comfortable town centre pub selling a fair range of real ales with the "Yates" blonde being in good condition. secluded rear drinking area. This seems to be a fair pub for real ale as there are no pubs in Newport that are in the 2009 Good Beer guide which is a shame being this is the capital of the Isle of Wight
