Little bit sceptical of this one - having walked passed it on several occasions. Walk pass 1 - the loudest amateur disco I've heard in a long time. Walk pass 2 - a hen do, where all the hens were wearing high viz jackets.. The promise of karaoke nights inducing dread.

Sunday lunch looked a good time to be brave. And what a delight. Chatty locals, friendly staff. Three real ales including the gloriously named Evan Evans Cwrw.

Proper authentic pub but maybe a bit too lively for me in the evenings!

The Seahorse is located a couple of minutes up the hill from the beachside shops and restaurants. It is a single room pub with a small bar and cosy rear seating area which houses a pool table and dartboard. The pool table is on the oche of the dartboard so both cannot be played at the same time. I counted two plasma screens, but there were no signs for Sky Sports. During my recent Monday afternoon visit the old-fashioned jukebox was unfortunately off in favour of some daytime TV. Whilst enjoying my pint I noted that there is a quiz here on Thursdays from 20:30 and Sunday is poker night, also from 20:30.
A standard keg range was available from the bar alongside cask Evan Evans WPA, Organic Gold and Cwrw. The food stretches to a few premade rolls on the bar. I liked it in here and found the service to be very friendly, I would return.

Solid stone corner pub at the top end of New Quay by the larger pay and display car park and we popped in for a quick one after a trawl around this former boat building village which is now centred around providing dolphin viewing trips.
Internally a very dog friendly traditional pub of some character with a small bar section to the right complemented by a larger stone walled space to the left. But this area is dominated by a central pool table and I cant imagine it's very relaxing sitting in this section when a game is being played. That wasn't a possibility on our visit as this section had one of the biggest St Bernards sprawled between the table and the side seating and she wasn't moving for anyone.
Carpeted throughout with something that that had clearly seen a lot of life and probably would get David Bellamy salivating.
The bar top and wall surrounds are festooned with beer mats from ales provided during the regular annual beer festivals and a board in the larger area still showed what had been available during last months one.
However as this is an Evan Evans house with usually two of their ales on this board only acts as a type of "Bullseye effect", e.g. This is what you could have had.
In saying that both the Evan Evans CWRW and WPA were in decent nick and this was a pleasant enough stop.
