The Bay View had only just re-opened after renovation when I visited last Thursday. The best part about this place is the view. It has excellent views across the north Cornwall coast and an expansive beach used by surfers.
There is a large lounge area with plenty of windows, as you enter. It has the feel of a cafeteria/hotel reception (I think they do offer accommodation). I approached the entrance desk and enquired about having a drink and was invited to take a seat near the windows, with me still wondering what beers they had.
Drinks (and food) lists are displayed on each table, but it wasn't immediately clear whether the beers or ciders listed were cask, keg or bottle. I asked if they had any cask ales, but was met with a rather clueless luck and then an affirmative response. With beers that I know are generally keg, I asked which were cask and was told all of them.
Neither myself nor the waitress were getting very far with this conversation, so luckily she led me down to the bar itself, which revealed three clipped handpulls, two of which were from a local brewery and were both off. That left Tribute as the sole real ale. As expected, all of the other beers listed were keg.
I settled for half a tribute and supped it whilst enjoying the view. However, I guess this place is under new ownership. Neither of the two staff members had a clue how to use the till when I got up to pay and leave. It has the feel of a more modern Fawlty Towers, with clueless staff and fairly chaotic organisation. Table service may be well intentioned, but it just created confusion.
Apart from the wonderful views, I see very little reason why I would want to return here.

Stunning location. Busy, as you would expect, but superb service. The staff do a really good job of making this a pleasant experience. Good beer and food.

Free House overlooking Widemouth Bay.
Kid friendly and meals available.
Fine choice of real ales including one badged for the the inn (sunset on my visit). This GBG listed Inn has numerous rooms, a terrace, large garden and a play area. Food available and accomadation.
Large car park.
#update can recomend high quality food served by a young and enthusiastic staff. What a way to finish the day, good beer, great food and watch the sunset over the bay#
