Beer Belly left this review about The Nags Head

The Landlady from the Pier Hotels has moved here. She hasn't the charm or the welcome of a previous landlady but keeps the Beer well. Bank's Bitter on no guests. Is the only traditional Bank's Pub left in Aber.

Aqualung . left this review about The Nags Head

This was one of the half dozen or so original Banks's pubs in Aberystwyth when I first came here and is probably the one that has changed the least. It's a small terraced back street pub that retains two wholly separate bars. I went in the left hand bar that had a far too dominant pool table and TV screen but at least the TV screen was showing Bargain Hunt and not Sport or 24 hour news.
The interior was mostly wood and it retains some tiled flooring.
The beer choice no longer includes Banks's Mild, a very sad state of affairs. I was told by the landlord that you can no longer find Banks's mild in Aber.
The two beers were Banks's Bitter and Jenning's Cumberland Bitter. I went for the Banks's Bitter (£2.00) that wasn't that great but was cheap. I suspect I got the first pint pulled.
I do get the impression that the North Wales Banks's and Burtonwood pubs are being left to rot under the Marston regime which is a great shame. Meanwhile Marston's have opened a new build food orientated place well off the main drag to the East of the station.

Quinno _ left this review about The Nags Head

Currently on the market freehold, presumably as part of the Marston's sell-off. Could be a good buy.

November 2009
Old-skool two roomed locals boozer. Two Banks ales (Bitter and Original), usually in pretty good nick. Regulars are wary of newcomers. Pool table, TV, dart board and decent jukebox available. Beer garden out the back.

I L left this review about The Nags Head

Just off the main centre of the town, the Nags Head is very much a friendly locals pub split into two areas but served from the same bar. The inside of the main front wall is unusual in that it has a definite slope to it.

We had the Banks Original which was well kept.
