A thorough refurb inside and very nice it is too, to the extent that most of the ‘old’ Glen has gone (not a bad thing) with the lounge area at the front left being a pleasant place. Five cask available; TT Landlord, Purple Moose Glaslyn, Wye Valley Butty, Mantle Rock (NBSS 3) and Moho (3.5). No cider on this visit. Food is very expensive, even for Aber. Well-worth a stop if you can grab a beer and get a seat overlooking the seafront – which we did!

Seems to have made good many of the issues I encountered when I reviewed the place in 2014, the inside was in good order and a little more upmarket than previous. Though the cavernous former dancefloor remains as a quasi-sports bar. Five ales on, mainly Welsh in origin – tried four of them and got good quality each time (NBSS 3, 3.5, 2x4), made even more enjoyable by being able to drink them outside in the suntrap front terrace. Also a decent selection of ciders on pump (further round the bar) and some interesting bottles too, including a gluten free option. Still much prefer the S&C as venue but this one is now giving it some long-overdue competition. Rated 8

June 2014
Used to be a 'plub' but has now reverted to a huge wannabe foody lounge thing. Not much atmosphere although sitting outside on a summer's day is nice, watching the waves. Three unusual (for Aber) real ales on which are variable, despite the GBG listing and attempts to replace are met with passive-aggressiveness. Inside always seems to be dirty. Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Glengower Hotel

Initially looks little different to most of the seafront hotels, but is an excellent food-led pub. The narrow front terrace is popular with those just looking for a drink, with many of the tables inside occupied by (but not restricted to) those dining. There is also a more basic bar with further seating and a couple of pool tables down a few stairs at the back. Good food (although not exactly cheap). Decent selection of mostly local real ales - including the Bragdy Mantle Cwrw Teifi - from five handpumps on the front counter, plus another five ciders and perries from a second bank on the other side. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.

Will Larter left this review about Glengower Hotel

Having only done a limited amount of research before my visit to Aber, I was surprised to find a proper pub here among the very smart hotels and guest houses on Victoria Terrace. Before our walk up Constitution Hill the doors had not been open, but I was looking forward to a pint on our return. The main bar in the front has five hand pumps, with four beers on and another on the way at the time of our visit. Purple Moose's Dark Side of the Moose was on, a favourite of mine and in fine shape. There's another bar around the corner in this multi-room hotel, this one with five ciders on hand pumps. Beside the other set in the front was displayed a Camra Pub of the Year award, which seems to have been well-deserved. We observed others enjoying their food and even passing their compliments to the kitchen, which brought a friendly response from the waiter - whether these were regulars or once-a-years, they'll remember this place with a smile.

Beer Belly left this review about Glengower Hotel

Your experience or visit here will almost certainly be weather dependent. Since the next door Courts gone the topics of conversation may not be as interesting as they used to be but the Beer has improved immensely. Plenty of local Welsh & Border brewed Beers including a Pale Mild which was nice and unusual. If the Weathers good the Beer Garden will be packed, it's really close to the Bar too so no long trek back and fore. Toilets still down an awkward flight of stairs which considering the amount of refurb's it's had is dissapointing. This is common in Aber.
I'm not sure on opening times so in poor weather and with it being so far away from any other Pub that can you can guarantee is open means this is a risky walk.

BRUMMIE STEVE left this review about Glengower

Stayed here on a recent visit to Aberystwyth, room was superb with a sea view.
The bar was quite busy even though most people were sat outside as it was a lovely
sunny day. The Salopian Lemon Dream was exellent and so was the food, overall we
had a really good stay would definitly recommend it.
