A large modernised pub with a reasonable bar to the front, an area of comfortable seating to one side and extensive dining areas to the back and upstairs. At the back is a terrace and outdoor area. Beers from Brains with Bitter and Rev James on handpump.

The Monachty is a split-level Brains pub with a bar downstairs at street level and a large dining area on the first floor. At the rear of the dining area access can be gained to a balcony that overlooks the harbour. Next to the kitchen hatch is a door that leads up to some accommodation and I believe there are a total of seven rooms. Downstairs, the bar area is split and at busy times the front bar is used for ordering drinks and the rear for ordering food and drinks. To the left of the bar and front entrance is a seating area complete with dog bowl.
During my stay in Aberaeron I visited this place twice as it was easy with the kids. The first time we ate from the pub co menu and found the food to be reasonably priced, I certainly had worse during this holiday.
The bar was stocked with standard keg products and the two hand pumps were drawing Brains Original Cask Bitter and Rev James. I found the young bar staff to be friendly and would eat here again.

The Monachty is one of Brains large food led pubs with multiple eating / drinking areas with Brains version of the Wetherspoons laminated card of delightful cheap eats on every table.
The front section is a bit more pub lounge like and then the elevated section to the back is more aligned to dining. Both the upstairs and downstairs have a very pleasant outside drinking areas with great views of the harbour.
After spending serious money in a couple of the other restaurants in Aberaeron we were attracted here by the midweek two meals for a tenner offer and I couldn’t complain with my battered cod and chips at that price. It’s the type of place that gives you the impression that they get through a fair amount of young staff, as they were training a couple on our visits and although they may have been keen, accurate and knowledgeable and not adjectives that I experienced.
There are two Brains beers on the bar, being Brains Bitter and Rev James for our visits and my pint of Rev James was passable once it had thawed out.
We found it fine for cheap eats to preserve the wallet but didn’t return for any other reason.

A fairly modern Brains pub situated over two levels (a large dining are is on the upper level). A couple of Brains real ales on the go - quality variable, ignore the Godd Beer Guide listing! Decent quizzer and sports TV. Not a bad stop but I'd be more tempted to amble on down the street towards the Cadwgan and Harbourmaster.
