A fairly plush traditional style pub with some nice leather upholstered bench seating along the front wall under the windows, the floor is wood, there was some piped music playing not a favourite feature of mine but it was a decent selection to my taste, there were a few more beers available than previously mentioned, I counted 6 pumps but failed to note and now remember if they were all in use, the ones I do remember were bordering on the mainstream but having said that my Rudgate Ruby Mild was exceptionally good.I couldnt warm to this pub as much as the Waggon and Horses next door or indeed the Rook and Gaskill opposite and would maybe miss this one out next time.

Obviously once a pub with a very ornate interior, you enter into a drinking vestibule with a taproom to the right just inside the doors. Tiling and stained glass still remain as does some dark woodwork, the furniture is a bit of a mixture but generally traditional. The magnificent counter in the vestibule has four pulls as does the one in the taproom, the rear dining room/lounge is serviced by a short stretch of counter. Only two beers on, a lacklustre Leeds Pale and Black Sheep Bitter. The ceilings alas are modern and very plain, the vestibule and lounge have random maps stuck there. The Gents is off the vestibule and there is another front room used as a pool cum sitting room. There's a big screen in the taproom and another in the lounge.

This pub was a Tetley tied house in the 80s and it is opposite the Rook and Gaskill,it has been opened out and now has different drinking areas there are 7 pumps on the bar with some guest beers and the more usuall Black Sheep bitter,Tetley Bitter and John Smiths cask the Tetley Bitter was a decent drink and this is a decent pub to have a few drinks in.
