another pretty dull Micklegate pub. This afternoon the bar was full of men with no manners or taste gawping at a big screen showing football. It’s another of those crap ‘Craft Union’ pubs which is just Enterprise Inns version of a cheap town centre drinking barn. the Black Sheep was barely drinkable, no surprise given that no one else was drinking it. Walk on into York.

Made over but well... new floor (stone) new wall treatment, new furniture (a mix including kegs with cushions on), many many big screens and dreadful Doombar as the solo cask beer, not bad enough to hold your nose but still unimpressive. Improved but still sweary staff & customers. One day perhaps but not now.

The Nags Head used to be a decent Stones tied house several years ago,but it is now a keg only house that is used mainly for circuit drinking on Friday and Saturday nights.
The pub is still quite small and narrow inside and the only bitter was John Smiths smooth crap.

A long thin dark bar with two counters, each with an uninspiring array of UK kegs, Bud, John Smith smooth, Strongbow, Stella etc. Brutalist décor of aluminium checkerplate on the lower walls and purple paint above. Service was fine but the customers comprised large men with shaven heads and tatoos accompanied by thin, hatchet faced women.
