Old Boots left this review about Black Bull Inn

Another Boroughbridge pub that hasn't changed much in the last ten years in spite of the sad death of its much respected landlord. No longer selling Taylors, John Smiths Cask and Black Sheep bitter are the regular beers. Beer quality isn't as tiptop as in the old days and the auto-vac has been removed.

Thuck Phat left this review about Black Bull Inn

A very pleasant stopping point in the attractive town of Boroughbridge. We didn't eat but the pub is clearly well set up to do so should you wish although this doesn't infringe at all on the drinking areas. John Smiths Cask and TT Best are the regular beers with one rotating guest, Cottage's Broadguage on our visit. The beer was in good condition, well poured and slipped down very easily.

Bucking Fastard left this review about Black Bull Inn

Neat and tidy Inn situated in the very attractive part of town close to a real butchers and other non chain shops.Low ceilings add to the atmosphere and the locals gather in the right hand lounge and get served from a hatch in the central corridor. The snug is cosy and has it's own bar with John Smith Cask and well kept Taylor Best as regulars together with one guest. We didnt eat but the seperate area behind the bar is set up for meals and there is a smart looking restaurant through some glass door at the rear of the building which appears to be used for evening dining. There is accomodation available.Good spot for a beer or two, there is no TV,musak, fruit machines or anything else to detract from the respectable interior.

Old Boots left this review about Black Bull Inn

Described as a 13th Century inn, this is low ceilinged with exposed beams and a multitude of rooms. The main bar has little more than a serving hatch although there is a 'proper' bar counter in the so-called snug. Popular and comfortable with open fires - some real, some not. The beer is splendid but all too typical for the area, John Smiths Cask, Theakstons Black Bull and fortunately Taylors Best (but not Landlord), the normal range of keg fonts look very anachronistic in this pub. Unusual statuettes, copper topped tables, horse brasses and copper plates on the wall make this a middle class dream pub if a little twee, but florescent jackets and big boots do not seem unwelcome. There is a smaller more intimate, room behind the main bar and a large modern restaurant at the rear. An excellent village pub in a small town.
