Will Larter left this review about The Ackhorne Inn

There were five ales on hand pump on our recent visit(Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Shepherd Neame Spitfire, Rudgate Ruby Mild, Roosters Yankee and Hop-a-board from the Junction Brew House, the recently established micro-brewery just down the road). There was also Old Rosie cider on hand pump. The late Saturday lunch-time atmosphere was enlivened by a group of Morris dancers rehearsing in one of the rooms.

A traditional pub easily missed up a narrow alley off Micklegate,a real effort has been made to cater for the real ale drinker. On my first visit the ale quality was high but sadly this was not maintained on a revisit possibly due to the large range not shifting rapidly midweek. The exterior windows are a feature, and the seating area infront of the bar is complemented by a side seating section. There is a raised ,paved drinking area at the rear but smokers tend to occupy the alley outside. No TV maintains the pub atmosphere but sadly there is piped commercial radio, fine when music is being played but hideous when the station broadcasts adverts.

Old Boots left this review about The Ackhorne Inn

No nonsense but comfortable, old style boozer with leaded glass everywhere. Six good guest ales and a range of fairly standard UK kegs but with a couple of more acceptable ones. Basically one big room with a bar counter at one end, you can still see the remnants of the old three room layout notably in the titled leaded windows. Up a small alleylike road off Micklegate

Started off well but lately has gone really downhill with mediocre ale and surly ignorant bar staff. Avoid.
