Alan Winfield left this review about The Hanover

The Hanover is a small corner pub that is in a quiet area just off the busy hanover way.
Once inside the pub has two seperate rooms, the room to the right had a pool table in it,this room was empty, the main drinking room is to the left, this is a small oblong shaped room with the bar on the right side, there are two bench seats at either end of the room, there was a TV high up on a metal beam in the middle of the room, this was showing the Spurs V Fulham game.
There are three pumps on the bar all unused,i had a drink of keg Stones bitter which was decent enough, the other bitter was John Smiths smooth crap.
The pub was fairly busy with older male drinkers on my Saturday dinnertime visit.
I really liked the look of this pub from the outside,i was also quite happy drinking in this pub.
If you happen to be in this area of Sheffield, give this one a go,these types of pubs are dissapearing fast.

Will Larter left this review about The Hanover

A street corner local in the pleasant Broomhall area to the west of the Hanover Way dual carriageway, which effectively cuts it off from the centre of town. The room to the right of the entrance has laminated wood flooring and a pool table, but the room to the left has got a homely feel to it, with carpet on the floors, bench seating at either end and the bar to the right. The wall opposite the bar has been stripped of plaster, exposing deep red brickwork, and there's a fireplace in each half of the room, confirming that it was once two smaller rooms. (A TV set is on the remainder of the wall that is held up by an RSJ.) One fireplace has a wood-burning stove, and the other is used as a store for the logs. There's a tiny smokers area in the back yard, in which can also be found the gents toilet.

On the bar: three naked hand pumps, so there's no real ale on here. What a shame. I had a half of Boddingtons, which I drank while thinking regretful thoughts about the original beer. This used to be one of the best bitters in the country, but all I could taste was the deliberate blandness that the accountants and tax dodgers that run In-Bev have substituted for that distinctive Boddies twang.

This is one of the nearest pubs to where I live, and I wouldn't mind returning to sample its friendly atmosphere and log fire, but how much better it would be with a couple of decent ales on the bar.
