BRUMMIE STEVE left this review about Cavells

Had a quick pint in here on a Friday night as it's handy for the tram stop, found it very quiet and even though it's a comfortable enough bar it lacks any atmosphere, a few people having a meal but for a bar in the city centre on a Friday night I'd have thought it would have been busier. Cant see me visiting this bar again if I was ever in Sheffield.

Graham Coombs left this review about Cavells

A smartly-furnished cafe bar, largely populated by ladies of a certain age on this lunchtime visit. It seemed tidy enough but had no real atmosphere. The barman was cheery but sadly the two handpumps only offered a vinegary GK IPA and a clip-reversed Lilley's fruit cider, with the keg taps being pretty mainstream. Moving swiftly on...

Will Larter left this review about Cavells Cafe Bar

This is a very long, thin room in the ground floor of a 1960s shop/office building near the Castle Square tram stop, with a front entrance on the High Street but access also from Hartshead to the rear. It's had real ales advertised on an A-board outside for a couple of years but this was my first visit. The bar, occupying the middle section of the right hand wall, is a very pub-like affair, and has a couple of hand pumps. Only Bradfield Farmers Blonde was available, and this was as cold and bland as it usually is. Apparently it's the biggest selling beer at the Kelham Island Tavern, so it clearly suits the taste buds of a large number of Sheffield drinkers. It reminds me of keg Stones, in that it's cold, inoffensive and drinkable. Décor and furnishings, the bar aside, are very much at the cafe end of the spectrum, though it's not a bad place for a quick drink, but with Wetherspoons a few metres away selling a choice of beers at considerably lower prices, it seems likely that this will be my only visit.
