A large open plan pub, which seems to have tried to go upmarket from a basic sports pub with dark decor and arty lighting. It still retains 2 pool tables and numerous sports screens, thankfully with sound off. There is a small patio outside overlooking a busy roundabout. Beerwise it had Leeds Pale and Doom Bar on pump in reasonable condition. Actually not unpleasant for what it is.

A community pub rather than any kind of ale house, just Doombar on on my visit, more drinkable than in many places. Lots of spaces with screens or pool tables. Obviously not to all tastes but close to the station and not bad for a quick one, more traditionalists would prefer the Queens next door.

ROB Camra left this review about The Old Ball

This was already quite a large pub, but it's been extended even further. It's all one room but with a raised area to the left of the door mainly set up with dining tables. There's a pool table in front of you as you enter and a main lounge area to the right set up with some comfy sofa's which looked a bit out of place. Four large TVs around the pub showing England vs Sri Lanka, but all were muted. It's a bit barn like but still reasonably comfortable. It was pretty quiet when we called in on Saturday afternoon, but when Ms CAMRA went to Trinity College just up the road, they used to come in here for a change from the students union bar. I suspect they still do, so it's likely to get busy during term time. Three handpumps on the bar, Tetleys Bitter, Leeds Best and one unclipped. The Leeds Best was much better than I was expecting, in fact it was a very good pint. It's a decent pub, but in no way a traditional one.
