Nick Davies left this review about The Old Bull

Very traditional village green pub, half-timbered outside, beams, flagstones, open fires within. Claims to have been running at least 500 years. It can't have changed all that much over the years, just the usual random extensions and inevitable knocking through of bars. The Archers connection is of course apparent, "Ambridge Bar", press cuttings on the wall, but it's not as in yer face as you might expect.

It made for a very cosy hour by the fire on a foggy January afternoon, sadly let down on the beer front - Doombar, Pride and HPA, the latter in so-so condition.

It's well worth a visit for its own sake, and doubtess compulsory for hard-core fans of the show. Unusually for rural pubs round here it's open all day from noon. With a bit of imagination in the cellar it would be a nine pointer.

I can't believe this pub has not been reviewed before, as it is one of the most famous pubs in the UK.

This Bull is the inspiration for The Bull in The Archers, the BBC radio serial which is the longest running of it's type in the world.

The pub itself, is a gem, medieval timber framed with what looks like a blacksmiths forge fireplace at one end, and the bar at the other. The beers are all in excellent condition. A thriving pub.
