A pub that backs onto the canal which is not apparent if you approach from Lombard Street, canal bridge 5A will take you from the canal towpath to the side of the pub. A former Banks’s pub and still with the signage it has Banks’s bitter (Amber) and Wainwright on two of the four pulls, a sign says MILD and Boondoggle are also sold there, the MILD was on but in keg form along with Carling, Stella, Fosters, Strongbow and Thatchers, Guinness of course. A fairly plain long room across the front of the pub, carpet and tiles, banquette seating, a screen, an old map of the area over the fireplace and some neat old photos. There’s a bit of a second room at the back before reaching the canalside back yard, there’s a machine tucked away here as well. Oddly some London street signs reference football clubs; Chelsea and Spurs, and someone’s been out with the navy surplus paint, fortunately not too much. Decent quality beer, it’s a fine local pub.

Mr Fastard has covered the interior details below.
The Rising Sun is a popular and friendly boozer with both drinkers and diners. The landlady was smiley and friendly and the ale decent.
Beers on: Banks Original,Bitter and Sunbeam, Pedigree and Wychwood Cherrypicker. A fair selection for a Marstons house and the Sunbeam and Cherry Picker were both good.
Probably the pick of the bunch for ale in Stourport.

Bucking Fastard left this review about The Rising Sun

Having traipsed around town looking for a pub with decent ale,we came across The Rising Sun which proved to be an oasis. There was a fair selection from the Marston's portolio of breweries and I really enjoyed the well kept Banks's Sunbeam and Wychwood Cherry Picker.
The front door opens onto a seating with a woodburner while to the left is the bar ,which is where the drinkers congregate in front of the TV screen. There is a seperate small restaurant section with screen turned off, beyond which is a charming canalside terrace with attractive flower arrangements. The low ceilings and multi levels gives the interior a great charm.Although we didn't eat,the food pricing seemed incredibly good value and some of the pints were sub £2.50.The landlady was very friendly and chatty, even with strangers like us,and for me this is the first pub I would head to when in Stourport.
