A plain exterior disguises a deceptively large place which has been made over but has retained (or added?) internal divisions which makes for a pleasant experience. Colours are the oh-so-now muddy Farrow & Ball shades along with a tartan carpet. Has quite a lilt towards families and dining but has more than enough for the casual drinker; six ales and six ciders; Brakspear Bitter, Wye Valley Butty Bach (good), Purity Gold, Hobgoblin, Dark Star Hophead and Cotswold Shagweaver (very good). Ate here and the food was fine. A decent place with good beer. 7.5

Real Ale Ray left this review about Pickled Plum

After a 25min walk from the train station, we were glad to see this opened at 12. The interior as described below is modern and open plan, the colour scheme running throughout is plum as you might have guessed. Also there were some wallpapered feature walls and a tartan patterned carpet. A lot of the original timber frame was exposed, where woodworm had had a good feast on it back in the day. We also noticed an open fire, good for a winter visit.
There was a choice of six ales and three ciders. We went for the Woods Brewery Tight Head, put on for the rugby World Cup and Brakspear Oxford Gold, both were fairly nondescript in flavour, but were in fair condition. Staff were friendly and jolly.

Newly modernised pub at the top of the main street , the main entrance is around the back and leads into the main bar , its open plan but with lots of little cosy corners , there is another room towards the rear .
Usual kegs and six(i think) handpulls mostly with mainstream beers , Banks Sunbeam , Hobgoblin etc and a couple from larger micros , i had a decent Salopian Shropshire Gold .
Service was good and the clientelle a good mix of ages either eating or just having a quiet pint .
I like it here , its pretty good .
