Another visit, as I line up the four 2017 Camra Good Beer Guide Pubs into a nice little pub crawl.
A couple of Wye Valleys on - the Butty Bach was in superb condition.

On the eastern fringe of Bewdley, close to the West Midland Safari Park, the Rising Sun is a homely old mid-terrace pub dating back to 1845. A front patio with plenty of bench seating allows customers to enjoy al-fresco drinking alongside a rather busy road. Two doors greet you in the entrance lobby, which has a number of interesting old aviation photos on display, but they both lead through to the same room, despite the retention of a partitioning wall immediately behind the porch which helps the left hand side retain the feel of a small snug bar. Here you will find red button backed banquettes with low stools arranged around a nice brick fireplace that looks like it gets plenty of use. The snug is carpeted in the same fashion as the rest of the pub and has a few fishing themed bits on the walls as well as some rods on the ceiling. The bar appears to the rear of the snug with a nice angular wood panelled counter and simple bar back. To the right there is a large front seating area with long banquettes to the front and a seemingly popular darts area to the rear with various bits on display around the board including a number of trophies. A smart fireplace adds another pleasant feature to the room, which extends further back past the servery into an open space with more banquette and chair seating and decor that was almost totally obscured by a load of gaudy Six Nations promotional tat. A TV screen behind the bar remained turned off throughout my visit, allowing the locals and landlady to enjoy some good, old-fashioned banter. A door to the rear leads out to a beer garden which I didn't get round to exploring on this occasion.
I noted three ales on handpull - Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach and Bewdley Worcestershire Way - but it appears that Banks's Bitter and Mild are often available via electric pump dispense, so I may have missed these options. A very friendly and welcoming landlady poured me a great pint of the Worcestershire Way which slipped down very nicely and then popped over to ask if I would like the wifi code when she saw me messing around with my phone.
I agree with Ray that the pub doesn't look particularly inviting on approach, but I thought the rather worn, old fashioned interior was very comfortable and I settled down quite nicely here. The friendly welcome and top quality beer were added bonuses and I was glad I jumped off the bus early to include this place on my crawl around town.

This is the first pub you will encounter on the way into Bewdley. The interior of the pub is traditional in style and is a bit tired looking, the sign out front is also in bad nick, which wouldn't really encourage you to venture in. The bar is towards the rear on the left hand side as you enter. There was a patio area out the back and some bench seating out front.
Three ales on the bar were Wye Valley HPA, Enville and a Banks.
