Along the riverbank to the north of the bridge is this restaurant-cum-bar, which looks to have been put together from two or three cottages from a terrace. They were operating table service, though the place was absolutely dead at mid-afternoon when I was there. The bar has three hand pumps plus two devices for displaying extra pump clips (see photo). I went for the local pale bitter from bewdley Brewery, and it was presented to me beautifully (again, see photo!), but didn't see where the beer was poured from. Anyway, it was in great condition and it would have been a very pleasant pub visit if it were not for some dreadful background music. Looking around, one of the beauties of this place is the view of the river, but it must be said some of the furniture has clearly seen better days, and I did begin to wonder about the business model. I don't know how busy it had been at lunchtime, and I hope they do enough real ale during the course of the day to keep the five beers ticking over. Certainly there was nothing wrong with mine.

Friendly riverside pub with 5 ales available. Seating outside by the river front and a garden to the rear. 2 Bewdley beers plus Wye Valley HPA , Taylor Landlord, Purity Mad Goose. I chose the Bewdley Worcestershire Way which was good.

Old Boots left this review about The Mug House Inn

Reassuringly middle class watering hole beside the river with a riverside drinking area complete with that silver metal furniture popular in cafes. Exposed brick and new large quarry tile floor, bench seating in the front corners but mainly tables & chairs plus some low sofas mid way back. It still does cobs & pork pies so it's not entirely up itself and the beer's very decent on the eight pulls with five different beers on offer. Spiking drinks seems to be a common jape in these parts or maybe it's just an excuse. I overhead conversations about this in several pubs around Bewdley including a less than believable whisky in a lager trick.

Location, location, location - Perfect pub. Riverside setting, lovely garden, nice restaurant and decent beer - including a fav Timothy Taylor - which is always on.

For these pleasures, you pay a premium. I never noticed how expensive a pint was (in comparison to the competition). £3.85 is almost London.

The Mug House is a cosy one roomed pub with a great location on the banks of the River Severn. The room has two distinct separate sections with a standard seating area to the front and a small lounge-like space further back. The main seating area has a tiled floor and offers a mix of chairs and benches with some decent views to the front looking out across the river. A nice brick fireplace stands to the right, flanked by a few interesting old photos and a selection of CAMRA certificates, whilst the day’s papers are available from a rack next to the entrance. The left side of the room has a small rail with a load of candles and old pint pots balanced on it and a few more old pictures are dotted around, in between various blackboards including one that listed upcoming Six Nations fixtures, suggesting that live sport is shown here. The servery is in the rear right corner and has an angular counter with decorative frontage, broken up at the corners by two brick pillars. To the left of the bar is the comfy lounge space, formed of three sofas in a U-shape arrangement on an old rug. The TV was in this back corner, but remained switched off throughout my Friday afternoon visit, so my attention was instead drawn to the fantastic series of old Guinness adverts which depicted comical scenes from the beer’s brewing process. The ceiling beams here have hundreds of old tankards and pint pots hung from them, perhaps as a link to the pub’s name, with more stacked along a shelf behind the sofas alongside candles, some lamps and a selection of Good Beer Guides.
I counted five ales at the bar – Bewdley Worcestershire Way, Wye Valley HPA, Purity Mad Goose, Three Tuns 1642 and Taylor Landlord. The bar staff were both very friendly and I was served a very nice pint of the HPA for £3.30 which I enjoyed from the comfort of one of the large sofas.
This pub is onto a winner with its riverside location but it offers a lot more than just decent views. I found this to be a very comfortable place with a cosy vibe, good mix of customers and well kept local beer. For me, this was the pick of the four pubs I tried on my afternoon in Bewdley and would be the one I’d be most keen to try again in the future

A rather splendid riverside pub/inn and restaurant (the two are kept separate) with the pub to the left. Quite traditional inside; quarry floor tiling, many prints of old Bewdley, inevitable mugs and a choice of seating areas. Pretty glass-covered and flora-heavy patio area to the rear with some riverside seating out front. A nice genial atmosphere pervaded , I could have settled in for a session in here though I noted it filled up quickly so getting a seat at peak times might be a struggle. Five interesting ales at the bar, Bewdley Worcestershire Way (very good for the first of the day, obviously been pulled through), TT Landlord, Purity Goose, Exmoor Fox and Wye Valley HPA. Also an excellent range of bar snacks. The statuesque barmaid gave Desmond something to gawp at whilst I quickly scribbled some notes (I must admit I also had a good look…). A really good little place, well-worth seeking out. (nb – look out for the serving hatch by the bridge which does a mean roast pork, stuffing and gravy bap for under £3!).

A popular pub this one, especially on a warm day as you get a lot of visitors sitting out front to view the river Severn. The pub is also popular with food and the right hand side room is mainly set up for dining. The small bar is situated over on the right as you enter and for its size, it had six ales on handpump. We went for the Bewdley Worcestershire Way and the Wye Valley HPA, both were in excellent condition. Another feature was the collection of various drinking mugs hanging from the ceiling. The pub was busy on our visit and the service at the bar was quick.

Oggwyn Great left this review about The Mug House

Riverside pub , and i mean riverside with the flood water rising and the flood barriers up the river is only about 15 feet from the front door !
Its fairly small in here , basicaly L shaped with one half given over to dining , decor is as described below , there is a large beer patio to the rear .
Usual keg taps and five handpulls with a decent mix of local(wye valley , bewdley) and nationals (TT landlord) , my Wye Valley HPA was very good .
I enjoyed my visit .

Nice location next to the River Severn. I'd go along with the other comments that it is a bit on the samll side but there is a nice looking beer patio at the back and, in summer, tables at the front. Cask ale included Ludlow Brewing Co Gold and Boiling Well, Wye Valley Hereford Pale Ale and Timothy Taylor Landlord. I didn't eat because I arrived 10 minutes too late for the lunchtime session. I can't put my finger on it but there's something about this place (this was my fourth ever visit) that makes me feel like I can't really relax and feel comfortable in here.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Mug House

A terraced cream rendered Georgain styled pub with white paintwork, dormer windows and front and back patios. Also does B&B accommodation and is in the GBG 2010.

The interior has two areas; a dining area and a bar/lounge area. The decor is a mix of the traditional and the modern, being in white and black beam, with some exposed brick. There are modern wood settles and old photographs, modern print and cartoons on the walls, with mugs and jugs hanging from the ceiling, as well as other ephemera dotted about. The service was fine, the clientele mixed and it was absolutely rammed, as they had a beer festival on in the back patio area - which ddn't help my mood - being anti-social and all that.

Beer; tap stuff with Banks's MILD on keg as well. On handpull there was Kinver Edge Light Railway, Wye Valley HPA, Bewdley Brewery's Old School Bitter and a good Timothy Taylor Landlord.

A nice enough place - in a mix of modern and traditional, serving a good menu - though i didnt eat. Sadly, i would rather have visited when the bber festival wasn't on, as i am miserable.
