Michael Wright left this review about The Old Ship Hotel

Visit late 2012 at lunchtime. We were mainly looking for somewhere to eat having just visited Stourhead National Trust which is fairly close by

It seems we had picked the wrong day, no hot food available for some reason, the pub had recently changed hands, so maybe that was why However we were offered a sandwich which we accepted. No complaints about helpful staff or willingness, the food we did have was tasty & generous. You will see from the web link that they do now [Aug 2013] have a hot food menu

Beer, choice of hand pulls, I forget what I had but no complaints

As you will see from photos, there is acoaching archway in centre of the building, there are bars to left & right of this archway, to left is Yard Arm which is more "public" & games rooms, to right is the Cabin which is more restaurant and "saloon" dining area.

At the time it was fairly sparse, bare boards & farmhouse style wooden tables, but maybe it is sort of "Country pub" style? Certainly not plush anyway

Not certain I would go again, because the George opposite is more suited to my tastes, but if you like local ales, juke box, live music, pool tables etc then this would be for you
