Incongruous modern building in a bland Victorian high street, the interior is different consisting as it does of iron columns and a shaped concrete ceiling. Inside the architect’s head it is meant to resemble the gun deck of a 76 gunner or some such tosh, the woodwork and pretend gun ports are a giveaway. Nice idea, wrong town. A Marstons pub; your taste buds can be delighted or otherwise with Hobgoblin or an array of national kegs, mine were otherwise occupied with a bland cold liquid labelled Hobgoblin. Tracky’s and baseball caps seem to be the dress code. Another to avoid unless you’re an innocuous old bloke.
