Set in an interesting looking building, it turned out to be the only real duffer of the day, the whole place appeared empty, save me and the solitary barmaid, I went into the "Real Ale Bar" to the right which was rather gloomy lacking litte natural light, the dark wood beams and other fittings not helping in this case. Only two beers were on, Tribute and Purity Mad Goose, I opted for the latter and was pleased it was only a half as it was well past its best. The Muted Cricket on the TV screen did little to lift the gloom, I soon left unlikely to return.

Large three-room character pub. Lots of beams and wood panelling in the main bar though it’s quite dark inside, feels a bit tired and in need of a little TLC. Dart board and sports TV spotted. Main bar has many old pump clips affixed to beams and there looked like some good ones have passed through here. However on my visit the seven pumps had five on and a disappointingly mainstream selection it was too; Black Sheep, Bombardier Gold, Doom Bar, Pride and a pretty insipid Bass. Amusingly noted that there was a sign proclaiming ‘Real ale tasting’ every Tuesday – what with that selection?? Feels like a place that doesn’t know the ale-drinking public have moved on since 1995.

An interesting layout in this modern-ish boozer. There's a separate room off to the right with around 7 real ales on tap, plus a couple of ciders. Beyond, there is a larger area with another bar which only serves lager. The bar to the right is almost its own pub, with no music or other intrusion. The beyond area has a large screen showing football, rugby league, or anything you'd like to request. There is also a tidy pool table at the back. One of the better pubs in Swindon's old town. Highly recommended.

This is a largish pub in the old town area and there are two rooms in this pub i went in the room to the right and this was a fairly comfortable room to have a drink in.
There was a good choice on beers on the bar with six real ales i had a drink of Archers Village and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Ringwood best, Smiles bitter, Wadworth 6X, Oakhill best bitter and Fullers ESB.
