Bit of a gem and not well advertised. The Good Beer Guide doesn't have the brewery down. It does list the one at Lechlade up the road, as being defunct.

Untappd does not have their beers listed.

The pub has room, is a 1600s coaching house and has their own brewery in the sizeable beer garden. All the beers on sale were from there - even the lagers.

Town Wall Best Bitter was a good looking, dark, malty bitter. Home made food was good quality.

A traditional english inn, seeminly a secret.

Visit today saw 10 hand pumps on with a number(4) from Hop Kettle Brewery their on site micro brewery with all pumps having a taster glass in front of them should you wish to try. At times it's advisable to be eating so you can reserve a table as we had to stand at the bar, not a hard ship but felt in the way with hoards of people trying to order drinks and food. An offer was made to adjourn to the restaurant but we stayed at the bar possibly stealing a locals bar stool from the comments made when "Pat" arrived.

As said with regards to the seating it's very food orientated considering the focus on real ale and the wide selection of bottled beers it has with it's own separate 2 page menu sheet.

Further to winning the 2013 BT Sport pub award I didn't spot it although they do have a vast array of old GBG editions to peruse if you get a seat.

Nice pub but maybe don't go on a Saturday dinnertime as it's quite busy if you want to relax and try the vast array of ales.

They also seem to have acquired a sign from a nearby converted pub http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/41843/ The New Greyhound as it's resting against a wall in there.

What lucky buggers you are if you've got this as your local. Not much more to add to what the others have said. A different set of beer to those Alan saw, I guess they change all the time but, uniquely in my experience a sample poured out in front of each pump (see pic) so you have an idea of what to expect, and something for everyone. Indeed enough to keep most of use occupied for a good long session. Friendly welcome and friendly locals too, what more could you ask for. Well worth a trip out.

The Red Lion is a decent looking pub at the bottom end of the high street there are hanging baskets outside once inside i was surprised to see 7 real ales on the bar there may have been a couple of ciders though ime not sure,i had one of my favourite drinks Butcombe bitter which as usuall was nice and bitter the other beers on the bar on my visit were Moles Best,Wadworth 6X,Sharpes Doom Bar,Keystone Cheer Up,Honey Blonde and Arrum Single Nog not a bad choice of beers.
The Pub is fairly comfortable but not to fancy, well worth a visit.

A white painted terrace brick and stone cottage style pub, with dormer windows and rear beer garden. In the GBG 2010 and also does accommodation.

The interior is an L-shaped room, but i may have missed the dining room, as we didn't eat. The decor was white and wood panel, with some red and supporting and ceiling beams. There were lots of old photos and prints on the walls and a plethora of other ephemera from old wooden skis, stuffed animal heads, jars and bottles to what looked like a small organ in the side part of the main room. There was also a stone and brick fireplace. Service was good, there was a TV, but it wasn't on, there was no music and the clientele were mixed and the place was busy.

Beer; tap stuff, with 9 real ales on handpull. I tried the Moles Brewery's Best, Hook Norton Hookey Gold, Bath Ales' Gem and Three Castles' Knight's Porter - all of which were decent. They place a small sherry glass in front of the pump so you can see the colour.

What can I say - quality - i could have stayed here all day. A must.

Dating from the 16th century, this is now a classy ale house, offering up to eight interesting selections with samples in front of the pumps. A pub for all seasons; the winter sees the cosiness and log fires come into their own, whilst the summer allows you to take in the huge rear garden. Food is apparently locally sourced and served all week except Mondays. The interior décor is fairly eclectic, with stuffed animals to road signs. SKY Sports is usually on mute, unless a match is on live. The exterior has some nice floral touches. Lovely and well-worth a visit for the discerning ale connoisseur.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Red Lion

Great range of real ales (9 in total), with a good 'local' atmosphere. Recommended.
