E TA left this review about The Eagle Inn

The Eagle was previously a thriving, lively pub catering for villagers and students from the nearby college, but over the last few years it has become less energetic and appears a little run down, an anomaly in a wealthy village such as Watchfield. The decor is in need of refurbishment and the presence of piles of the landlord's personal possessions scattered around the bar is a bad sign. There were only 2 other people in and the whole pub looks very run down, a far cry from the days when Rugby Club used to come in for serious sessions.

The pub consists of one long bar with a games/eating area at one end and a single bar towards the other end. There were 3 ales on when I visited. I had the Brains SA which was well past its best.

I sincerely hope this business isn't moribund as The Eagle is the last remaining pub in the village itself, The Royal Oak already having closed down.
