Hop Back pub, slightly away from the madding crowd. Enigmatic, jumbled interior - red and off-white colours with bare boards and fabric banquettes, plus darts. Tidy courtyard garden. GBG'23 listed so I expected great things. Six of theirs on, my Entire Stout came via stillage and a cracking pint it was too (NBSS 4), served-up by a friendly barmaid whose music choices for the stereo were of a left-field variety. Also some proper ciders. Note the bizarre opening hours (not open until late afternoon on a Saturday) but worth the effort, I could have easily stayed for more had I not been a) full, b) a bit pissed c) having to get the last bus out of dodge. Best pub in town by a nose, and I did them all.

An excellent find which I’ve driven past so many times due to lack of parking and the amount of traffic on the road. This time however I made an effort, and I’m very pleased I did – well worth it. It’s laid out as described by Aqualung (pbuh) below, cosy and welcoming, and frozen in time to a certain extent. There’s a dartboard, open fire, warm welcome from the landlady and a surfeit of dogs to add to the charm. When we went in there was a coterie of people strumming away on ukuleles while looking at their iPads, presumably an esoteric form of karaoke, as they seemed to be singing, or at least chanting, along to 1960s rock songs. Ales on were all from Hopback: GBF, Summer Lightning, Entire Stout, Taiphoon, Fugglestone and Citra, so it was a shame we didn’t have more time to sample them all. What we did have was in excellent condition. Also on offer were Erdinger Pils, Guinness, San Miguel, Wahrsteiner, Fosters and Stowford Press cider. Well worth making the effort and I shall do so again very soon.

This is a small Hop Back tied house situated on the Southern edge of Devizes. The first thing you notice is that there is a full sized skittle alley at the rear. Inside it's an L shaped room with three areas. The bar is in the middle and to the left is a room with a dart board. On the right of the bar is an area with low tables and chairs. It was quiet on my Saturday afternoon but some folk were drinking outside in the courtyard (before the thunderstorm arrived).
The bar has just three hand pumps which had Hop Back Golden Best & Yakima Gold and Great Western Maiden Voyage. I went for the Maiden Voyage which was in very good condition.
This is a pleasant enough pub but it's a shame it can't sustain more than three ales.

This pub is a short walk from the town centre it looked quite nice from the outside with lots of hanging baskets,it seemed a bit on the darkish side inside there were a few handpumps on the bar but i could'nt get to what they had on so the only beer i wrote down was the one i had a drink of which was Downton Elder this was ok.
