A nice traditional place, fairly basic but looked after over an inverse C shaped interior, the front end of which has two bay window seating areas with wooden perch seating. A friendly welcome at the bar which sported four cask; 2x Heritage brews, Church End Stout and Palmers Copper, the latter of which was cheap at £3.50 but tasted a bit stale and cardboardy- I'm guessing an over-worked aspirator (NBSS 2). Black Rat cider also on. I quite liked it here but the cask didn't convince - mine was the only one poured for a long while. Regardless, it’s GBG’23 listed (and has been for over 28 years!). Maybe I got unlucky. 6.5

A former coaching inn which has retained its large garden and two bars inside as described below. Four pumps on the bar, three ales on, plus Black Rat cider from a pin on the bar. The ales were Ramsbury Farmer’s Best, Three Castles Best and Liquid Highway from Hop Kettle. The pub is a regular GBG entry, and there are numerous awards for excellence from various bodies on display. All the ales were in excellent condition, the landlady was very welcoming and the locals were up for some friendly banter. Well worth a visit, though dogs are only allowed in the garden.

Old school alehouse, worn but in a good way.Much as Aqualung describes, the four handpumps included a decent Stonehenge Eye Opener, served in an oversized glass, another CAMRA tick in the box. There was a pithy exchange of banter with a local which made us all laugh,in some ways it's a shame this pub has been so eclipsed by The Vaults, despite it's long running GBG membership it doesn't feel a must visit to me.

This is an old school town pub with a single room that forms a U shape around the bar. The front area has wooden floorboards and the rear has a more modern wooden flooring. There appeared to be a covered pool table at the back.
It was quite busy on my early Saturday afternoon visit.
The bar has four hand pumps which had Moles Tap, Otter Bright & Head and Bath Gem. I went for the Otter Head (£3.60) which was excellent. This one has had a long run in the GBG. It doesn't say much for the local regional Wadworth that they don't have a single pub listed.

The British Lion is a proper pub on a busy road it had one room and there were three pumps on the bar i had a drink of Archers Village and this was quite a nice drink there was also Hop Back Summer Lightening and a beer called Ironside but i dont know who brews this beer.
I would have happily stayed for a few more here.

Had a quick bus ride into Devizes for a look round the pubs and enjoyed my visit to this one. It is a single bar free house in the centre of town, and we enjoyed Hancocks HB and Butts Traditional.

This is the place to be. A proper boozer! Four ales are always on tap that rotate and change regularly, as well as traditional cider. They are CAMRA supporters, and support local brewers Three Castles, Bath Ales, Abbey Ales, Hop Back Brewies and many many many more! They have a brillinat jukebox with a wide variety of music genres and on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday the ambience is great!
It also has a fantastic beer garden and in general has bags of character-a fan for the more old skool generation who belive pubs are for talking and drinking! A place to be if you want to be a local!
