I was last in Corsham a couple of years ago and having found a couple of decent pubs (the Flemish Weaver and the Hare & Hounds), I had high hopes for the Three Brewers, which has found its way into the latest Good Beer Guide.

Situated on a residential street which was reasonably quiet, despite being a bus route, this is a nice looking pub, both inside and out. There is a cosy snug at the front of the pub and a larger public bar and adjoining games room with pool table to the rear. Entrance is from the side of the pub.

A few local blokes were present, some drinking at the bar and some playing pool when I arrived. A small family was heading towards the snug when I left. So, the customer base seemed quite diverse.

The beer range did disappoint me slightly. Draught Bass is the regular ale. Timothy Taylor Landlord was the guest. Not quite as good as the 2 aforementioned Corsham pubs, but still a nice enough local boozer.

Backstreet pub laid-out over a right angle, with a blue painted left side and a green painted right side; it has been modernised and isn’t too bad although it does feel a bit new and antiseptic. Whilst the bar serves both rooms, the cask sticks and point of sale are only available in the green room. Two on, I only had eyes for the Bass which was pretty decent (NBSS 3.5). TV football, dart board plus a piano in the blue bar. Not bad overall but needs a year or two to get bedded-in.

A welcoming traditional freehouse in the backstreets, a Victorian pub with plenty of character. There is a garden, though we didn’t venture in due to the cold and rain. Inside there is a lounger bar at the front and a public bar to the rear, both accessed through the side door. There is also a smaller games room with a pool table. The staff were really friendly, the locals sociable. They host live music and there is a real community feel. Three ales on – Bass Bitter, Jennings’s Night Vision and another that I forgot to note. The Night Vision was most enjoyable. It’s easy to overlook this pub as it’s hidden away, but it’s worth seeking out for a decent pint in amiable company.
