Huge Arkells hotel which has had any sense of history ruthlessly eliminated inside. A number of rooms, décor is ‘rustic mimsy’. An interesting oddity were the repurposed metal leaded window panes being used to divide space between tables and create little mini booths; a shame that nobody bothered to sand them down give them a lick of paint as they look dirty and scruffy. Clientele consisted of lunching families, pensioners and squawking babies. Two Arkells cask and a Cotswold cider; my half of 3B had the feel of being just on the cusp of turning (NBSS 1.5).
