Bucking Fastard left this review about The Rising Sun

For some unknown reason this pub made it into the 2016 GBG,and that was the reason for the visit.Unassuming mid terrace house, but very much a local pub for local people, there was a frosty atmosphere as three large strangers entered their midst. The barmaid made no attempt to welcome or move towards serving, and the sight of just Courage Best,Batemans Valiant and a real cider (one pump unused on a Sunday evening) were enough to convince the crew that repairing elsewhere was the best option. The regulars were then free to enjoy their solitude, and carry on watch France put Iceland to the sword. What the local CAMRA are playing at nominating this pub is a mystery, unless we happened across them watching the footie.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Rising Sun

Decent twin-bar pub with a traditional interior. Log fire in the main bar, together with several sports TVs. The 'Riser' obviously hosts a number of live music and other events too, looking at the various posters on display. GBG listed for 2015 and next year, with the regular Courage Best and a 'house' cider supplemented by Landlord and Butcombe Gold (£3.60) as guests on the four handpumps.
