Alan Winfield left this review about The Tawny Owl

The Tawney Owl is a large stone built pub that is on a busy road in the middle of Ossett.
Once inside there is a fairly large single oblong shaped room which runs to the rear, the bar is on the rear right side, the seating is normal tables and chairs to the front, there is pew type seating facing the bar,the pool table is to the rear, the room is carpeted.
There were no real ales on the bar,but there was Samuel Smiths Sovereign on keg,i had a drink of this and it was a decent drink and cheap at 90p a half.
Background music was playing.
The pub was very busy on my Saturday afternoon visit with a good livley atmosphere.
Live music is advertised and the pub does a Sunday roast for £3.95.
I was happy enough having a drink in this pub,but i dont suffer from a nervous disposition.
