Sparse, dull and scruffy local's pub in a grand-looking building. Some goon has painted the lovely oval shaped bar, plus almost everything else, grey and silver. Landlord over all the pumps and to be fair mine was fine (NBSS 3). Jumbo TVs showing snooker, felt like a Sunday. Feels like there's a half-decent boozer underneath the gloop but given its history (Taylor-Ossett-Taylor-??) I wonder whether it’ll see-out the decade.

A fine stone Victorian exterior, the inside is in keeping with some original features notably the horseshoe bar counter at one end of the left hand room. The right hand room is filled with two pool tables and some seating. Comfortably furnished in traditional style with bench seating, wooden tables and chairs on a reassuringly wooden floor with unusually short boards, round the counter the floor is tiled in red and green, the ceiling has deep coffers. There's also a bit of stained glass about including Timothy Taylors trademark wheatsheaf in the main doors. It is Keighley so the draught beers are from Taylors, six pulls but only a cloudy Landlord and a very decent Golden Best this time. There are a few machines about, piped music and a big screen. Upstairs has a function room. I can see where Jonathan Crewdson is coming from as it is very much a locals pub.

I have mixed feelings about this gaff. Really nice interior but only had one real ale on tap when I visited and some of the punters were a bit anti-social. Didn't feel like the sort of place you could relax and enjoy an evening in so haven't been back.
