A decent enough pub that backs onto the river Calder. We popped in here and found four handpumps, serving Green Mill Brewery Old Git, Caledonian Poltergeist, Exmoor Gold and Black Sheep. We all went for the Old Git, which was in good shape. The landlady wasn't too patient whilst we made up our minds, she didn't even offer any taster samples out. The pub attracts mainly locals, who by the looks of it, preferred the Carlsberg. I spoke to a couple of them and I found them friendly and welcoming, unlike the landlady. There was also a good number of people who had called in for a bit to eat, on our visit.

The Shoulder of Mutton is a decent looking stone built pub that is situated in the middle of Hebden Bridge where all the tourists congregate.
Once inside there is a single oblong shaped room which runs the width of the pub,the bar faces on entry.
The floor is part stone and tiled, the seating is normal tables and chairs and bench seats.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Goose Eye Chinook which was a really nice drink, the other real ales were Exmoor Gold and Abbeydale Absolution.
Background music was playing and food was being served.
I was not so struck on this pub as some of the previous pubs i had been in.

This was the first pub we visited on a rainy Sunday, and while it's pleasant enough, it could really have done with a fire to brighten up a dank and gloomy day. I tried the Timothy Taylor Landlord, but it was the usual disappointment, being devoid of any real flavour of malt or hops, and hugely overpriced at £3.80 a pint. the other beers were Slightly Foxed Prairie Fox and Osset Blonde.

Good looking stone built building on one of Hebdens main tourist streets. It's quite foody as are lots of the pubs around here with a lot of dining tables to the left as you enter. It has a pleasant ambience, although it's a bit gloomy inside and has twigs with lights (never a good sign). Three cask ales on the bar though and the pint of Copper Dragon Golden Pippin (I think) that I had was well kept. There's a quiz machine right next to the bar which could be a pain at busy times. But it was about 7 p.m. on a Friday and fairly quiet. I had a couple of games and won £3 so I was happy. It's a good pub.
