Will Larter left this review about The Station Pub

Pretty basic railway station pub with no real ale. (There are two well polished hand pumps on the bar but the lass behind the bar told me they are never used but no one will take them away.) Loud and bass-heavy music and John Smiths Smooth Crap suggest that this is my first and last visit to this one. It's not a bad pub - it just doesn't float my boat. (Cash only.)

The Station or Station Pub as it likes to be called now is right outside Castlefords train station,so very handy if waiting for a train like i was.

Once inside there is a single L shaped room with the bar facing, the seating is comfy bench type and small stools, the room is carpeted and there is a pool table to the rear.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of clarks Traditional which went down very well, the other beer was Revolutions Clash.
I thought this was a very comfortable pub,one i could settle in for a sesssion if i lived local.

A fairly basic, medium sized, back street boozer, found between the town’s train and bus stations. Internally, it’s obviously been opened up down the years but feels rather spartan with its plain white artexed walls, upholstered benches and not an awful lot else. However, there is a pool table to the left of the bar, a juke box and an overhead T.V.

Just two hand pumps at the bar, with one normally dedicated to a Revolutions beer – Severin Dark Mild, on this occasion, plus Cameron’s Strongarm. Both were in good nick, but perhaps on the cusp of being a little too cool for my palate. Service from the barmaid was pleasant enough, if a little subdued and the atmosphere was a little muted when we called mid-afternoon, on a Saturday, although wall posters advertising drinks promotions suggest the place livens up considerably on an evening.

Despite some reservations, I’d almost certainly call into The Station when next in town, as there is a surprising lack of choice in decent beer beyond The Junction and The Shoulder of Mutton.

The closest pub to Castleford railway station and quite handy for the bus station too, hence the name of course. A U shaped room with a central bar housing two handpulls, Camerons Strongarm on one and Revolutions MILD on the other, both dark or darkish beers but well kept. Other wise just single fonts of the usual keg stuff, ad's for Jagerbombs and alcopop suggest the core customer base doesn't require more than two pulls. The usual pub accoutrements of big screen, juke box and machines are also available. Traditionally furnished and decorated with the addition of some model trains and plates with railway subjects to reflect its location. Decent beer and its location certainly make it a good place to wait for a train.

my first visit for a number of years lots of offers for shots. Now with 2 Real Ales available still at a very reasonable £2 a pint. A good place to wait for a train and a good excuse to just miss the previous one.

Sited next to Castleford Railway station, this has always been a very busy pub. Unfortunately however, the future does not look good. The council want to link the Railway Station and Bus terminus together, and a compulsory purchase order may mean that the Station will suffer, along with the Royal British Legion over the road!
Probably the best pint of John Smith's to be found in the town!
