Will Larter left this review about The Magnet

A large roadside pub between Glasshoughton and the centre of Castleford, it's an odd shape with the entrance in a corner to the left. On an outside corner to the right is the entrance to the function room. Once inside there was quite a small room separated from the rest of the pub, though there was a door slightly ajar to what looked like a dining room in the part of the pub that juts out at the front. There are quite a number of benches outside, but it was too cold for that when I was there. Maybe half a dozen couples or small groups were in at 5pm on a Saturday. I was glad of the warmth after being at a football match up the road, and even gladder when I saw Black Sheep Best Bitter on one of the hand pumps, though I was a bit disconcerted to hear one server say to the other "has this been pulled through?" The answer was in the affirmative and the beer was ok, but not the best I've ever had by a long chalk. I was glad I'd called in and although I'd have no problem making another visit, it doesn't seem very likely.

Chris Heath left this review about Magnet Hotel

A large Hotel on the main Road heading towards Castleford. The Magnet Hotel shares it's name with another Magnet Hotel just a mile away in Airedale. Has a large function room - I had my engagement party here way back in Nov.95.
