This is a nice little pub, as smart inside as outside, with green paint on wood panelled walls, good quality carpet and traditional pub furniture. There were a dozen or so locals with a few sat or stood near the bar. Two hand pumps with Abbeydale Moonshine and Ossett White Rat, neither of them beers that suit my palate, but judging by the display on the "coming soon" board, this is what they like around here. The lass behind the bar was friendly and my half of Moonshine was in good condition. There was some racing on the TV and a good Saturday afternoon atmosphere.

Revitalised pub, choice of well kept ales, has had a facelift to the exterior, good outdoor area, nice bar staff, give The Houghton a go it's a proper pub.

A busy pub on the main road from the M62 into Castleford. Within the space of about 100 yards, this pub along with The Royal Oak, The Malt Shovel, The Rock Inn & The George V WMC forms the "Glasshoughton Pub Crawl". Formerly owned by Dave Sampson (ex Castleford RL coach) and his son Dean (Castleford & Great Britain RL star).
