Old Boots left this review about The Midland

Formerly known as The Midland it appears to have had a bit of a refurb and changed name from a railway theme to a canal one, Bingley has a famous flight of five canal locks. The original layout as a railway hotel must have been quite impressive but sadly modernisation has swept whatever remained away apart from the odd little original feature, the layout is a bit of a dogs breakfast to be honest. The modern but in a traditional style counter is off to one side with integral lighting a collection of T Bars and three pulls. Tetleys and Leeds Pale were on offer, luckily I had only a half of Leeds which due to its thickness and stickiness I declined to finish. The usual stuff is all present and correct, big screens, tall seating, arty farty pictures as decor and interesting light fittings. The woodwork and tongue and groove is in dark pine while the walls are pastel and a shade best described as millstone grit, especially on the pillars remaining after some wall removal. One picture of the five rise locks hangs by the counter, there is also a pool table sat in one corner but covered over.
