The White Hart has two separate bars which were both half full of punters during a recent Friday evening visit. This is a Harvey’s run pub so Old Ale, Best, IPA and Dark Mild were the cask ale options available from both bars. There is also a standard keg range. In the left bar is a television which was switched off in favour of some background music. At the rear is a room with sofas and a large television for watching Sky Sports. There is also a piano. In the L-shaped right-hand bar are two more televisions, which were also off. At the rear are a pool table and dartboard. Out the back is a large enclosed patio area with picnics that are separated by trestle.
Live music is held here throughout the week, my visit must have been before the band set-up. Thursday is karaoke night and there is open mic on Wednesdays. The pool table and jukebox are free on Tuesdays. This is a decent enough town center local’s boozer.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about White Hart
Attractive old Harvey's pub on the historic High Street, with a modernised but still having a relatively traditional two-bar interior. Furniture and 1/3rd-height wood panelling all in a mid-brown shade so not too gloomy inside despite the limited window area. Also has a dining room off the larger bar at the back, with a patio beer garden beyond on the other side. Sussex Best, IPA and Old (£4.00) available from a total of seven handpumps split between the two counters.

This is the only Crawley pub I had visited previously well over thirty years ago. My vague recollection of it from then was that it was quite a basic town pub and the Harvey's Best was rank. The reason for coming to Creepy Crawley that day was to try this Harvey's pub. Quite honestly I thought it was pretty awful all those years ago and while it's never going to be one of their classic pubs it is now a worthwhile place. As mentioned below there are two bars and I went in the left one. Both are carpeted and the right bar has some wood panelling. There is a small dining room and a patio at the rear.
Four Harvey's beers were available IPA, Best, Old and Lewes Castle Brown. I went for the Brown (£3.90) which was in good condition. I thought that this along with the Old was rather expensive but the IPA is better value at £2.90.
I'm glad it's greatly improved from my visit back in the day and this one, the Spoons and the Brewery Shades form a handy trio of pubs that require little more than crossing a road.

The original White Hart dated back as a pub to the mid 17th Century but the increase in London-Brighton coaching traffic meant that by the end of the 18th Century it was inadequete for its purpose and a new White Hart was established in 1770 in the timber framed building we see today, parts of which date back to the 1600’s.
The interior is divided into two pleasant if unspectacular bars, fully carpeted with plain décor, a few old pictures of when the town wasn’t a concrete mess and some Harveys adverts being of notable interest.
The larger left hand Saloon bar reaches back into a separate dining area and there is also a patio at the rear. The right hand public bar contains a pool table and TV. For a Saturday lunchtime, I found the pub quite busy and bustling with both drinkers and diners which is usually a good sign although the public bar was a tad quieter.
The pub is currently part of the Harvey’s empire with 4 ales available across 7 pumps between the 2 bars (Old Ale, Dark Mild, Best and Bonfire Boy). My Dark Mild was excellent although I didn’t recall the price but it certainly wasn’t unreasonable. Food was pretty standard but decent value with main courses around £6-8 and snacks around £4.
It is certainly one of the better pub options in town and is certainly worthy of a couple of pints as part of a crawl.

Malden man left this review about The White Hart
A busy routine town pub, with the traditional bar/saloon format, a partition seperating the areas either side of the bar which runs full length between the two. Carpeted, standard tables in fours with banquettes around the walls, a high table and stools near the door. The bar has a pool table. A few old photos of the area, pretty standard stuff. Popular for live football, several screens showing the match yesterday lunchtime. There is a quieter dining room to the rear of the saloon/lounge.
A Harvey's house, Sussex Best, Kiss and Old Ale on with one pump unused. I tried the Best and it was fine. (£2.80)
