An L shaped room in an old looking building, any attempts to modernise the interior have failed or was some time ago as it just struck me as tatty.Anything that might be decent about the pub was neutralised by the loud, frankly rubbish, modern music played via a radio, along with far too many kids in pushchairs and everything that goes with that. A reasonable lineup of Harveys Best, St Austell Proper Cracker and T.T. Landlord on handpump were backed up by a couple of keg crafties, Beavertown Neck Oil and Brixton Reliance. There was a fair bit of downside to this pub along with any upside.

An old pub which has gone rather upmarket, with stripped floors and leather chairs, although it does still retain a pleasant, friendly quality. Conservatory restaurant and patio garden to the rear. A couple of interesting beers on offer in a changing range and condition was good.

The G&D, as it is referred to on the modern pub sign, is a good looking period building at the North end of North Street just inside the ring road that houses a modern décor Town centre pub/ restaurant. You know what to expect by the Farrow & Ball Teal Green painted exterior and a formulaic modern decor wooden floored single bar with a conservatory restaurant and smart large decked outdoor area to the rear awaits within.
The smart bar supports 5 pumps providing four ales and a cider. TT landlord and Sharps Doombar seem to be permanent beers and then Deuchars IPA and Arundal Sussex Gold were on for my visit.
Got the impression that this place is mostly food orientated and due to its close proximity to the Chichester Festival Theatre there was a focus on a pre-festival food menu. Also the main bar area was nowhere near as busy in the evening as the other pubs in town over our weekend visit, also giving me the impression that the locals treat this mainly as a restaurant as well.
We passed on the food menu , so better to look at the trip advisor reviews for how this place functions as a restaurant, but have to say an excellent pint of Sussex gold was enjoyed on the decking, but this modern décor place was more to my wife’s liking than mine.

This pub has had a contemporary refurb both inside and out. The L-shaped interior felt a bit generic; stripped floorboards, dark brown sofa-type furnishings etc though there’s a nice conservatory for dining. Daily papers available, which was unexpected. Four ales; Tribute (passable), Ringwood Boondoggle, Youngs Ordinary and Broadside alongside Kirin lager, Aspalls Cider and a cocktail menu. Fair enough overall.
