Blackthorns rating of 5 is very generous for this appalling pub, if he had eaten I doubt he would have been so bountiful. We had the misfortune of eating there. That was 18 months ago. I paid £17.50 for a crab salad 'which was dreadful'. The beer was dreadful, poorly kept & expensive. This place could be so much better, lovely situation. We were 11 for lunch in our walking group. That's 11 people spreading the word about this awful place. My rating a 2. One for the table setting & another for the view.

Pleasant enough pub in a nice spot, although it's clearly geared more towards food than drinking. It's got a smart/trendy wine bar type appearance with a tiled floor, leather chairs with lots of cushions scattered around and dark wooden tables laid up with white linen serviettes and silver cutlery.

On a recent Sunday lunch time there was only one small table squeezed in to a corner that wasn't laid up for food, so it's not really a welcoming place for drinkers. Similarly there's quite a small bar area, probably more used by staff for table service than punters. That said, they were pleasant enough though and didn't seem to mind us just stopping for a pint. It was just the whole ambience of the place that wasn't really conducive to that. There were three or four staff just loitering around as well with apparently not much to do, presumably because they were only about half full. In order to pay for all those loitering staff, they obviously need to charge quite a bit for the food, with most of the starters being around the £7/£8 mark.

Beers on offer were Hepworth Sussex and Doom Bar, plus Stowford Press cider. What it does, it probably does very well, and I'm sure if you want to go out for a nice meal it's a good place to go. But I can't honestly say it's a great pub.

As can be seen from photos, access is by a narrow & bendy country road, ensure driver is on the wagon for the night! Best approach is from Selsey end of road

Parking is at rear of pub, with more, free, space near foreshore
