Huge pub with something of a club feel, various different areas, disco floor, lounge seating, booths etc arranged around a large island bar. Probably avoidable on a Saturday night but not unpleasant on a quiet weekday lunchtime. There is a pavement patio on the High Street side and a large outdoor area at the rear. Usual keg offerings and also serves a house badged ale on handpump of unknown origin, but which seemed to be a nice traditional bitter

The William Hardwicke is a very large pub on the high street in the centre of town. Steps lead up to two entrances that are found beyond a picnic lined patio area. In the left hand side of the pub is a pool table by the front entrance. This is free to play on Mondays when I am led to believe there is some sort of pool competition. Towards the left rear is a dartboard and seating stretches down the left hand side of what is essentially a central bar. The high street side of the bar faces the front windows where there is seating and a log burner that was unused during my warm Saturday afternoon visit. Adjacent to the right hand entrance is a small twee area that houses a brick fireplace and a few full bookshelves. Unsurprisingly this was the area of choice for those of many years. More seating runs down the right hand side that leads to a large seating area that doubles up as a dancefloor at night. Out the back is a large paved picnic table strewn beer garden.
Karaoke is held here every Tuesday evening from 20:30 until midnight. There is also a late license until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays for ‘club night’.
The bar is stocked the standard draught and I noted two hand pumps. One of these was off and the other was drawing William Hardwicke, which could be anything. Pub grub is available every day from midday until 21:00.
I found the barmaids to be very friendly and I would pop back in if passing with a group of mates. I’d probably give it a miss if on my own and I wouldn’t go in the evening when I imagine it becomes a bit raucous.

Closed since November 2013, glad to report the Willian Hardwicke reopened last month after a substantial investment in a refurb. The Sussex CAMRA rag reports that Deuchars IPA and a house Ale will be permanently available.

OK town pub but nothing special - more like an expensive Wetherspoons, complete with the early morning drinkers but without the beer choice. Only two pumps on - the London Pride was quite good but not top-notch. I didn't eat but the menu looked average, with the usual range of pub grub at reasonable prices.

Went to Bognor this weekend and happened across this rather nice pub. The weather was glorious and we were looking for a place to drink, with outdoor seating. This fitted the bill. Also attached to the bar was a coffe house, which will impress the tee total, but not for me! Plenty of seating out the front to watch the world go by and another area situated at the rear. Food is available, with a good choice, including a carvery. It was very pleasant spending a few hours in good company in this friendly pub.
