Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The New Inn

New(ish) unbranded Marston's pub / restaurant, not aimed at the top end of the market but tidy enough and doing good business late on a Friday lunchtime. Anonymous semi-modern furniture and decor in the various seating / dining areas around the 'L'-shaped bar and another partly opened-out section off to one side. Not a great selection from a total of 12 handpumps, but the Banks's Mild (£1.45, half) was in good shape, with Sunbeam and Hobgoblin also available.

Large foody pub with friendly service. I only noticed Sunbeam and Wainwright as I walked in. There may have been others on the other bar. I went for the Wainwright which was fine. OK to pop in for one.

Aqualung . left this review about The New Inn

This is a large modern looking suburban Banks's house. It has a central island bar with thirteen handpumps serving six different beers. Although it is one large room it has been divided into different areas with the semblance of a public bar at the back containing a dart board. Everything else has been described in fair detail below.
The six beers available were Banks's Mild, Bitter and Sunbeam, Jenning's Cocker Hoop, Everard's Sunchaser and Leeds Yorkshire Gold. I went for the Banks's Mild (£2.54) which was in great nick. Normally a large modern suburban pub would be something of a nightmare for me but this one I rather liked.

Ale Monster left this review about The New Inn

This is a modern open plan Banks’s (Marston’s) Pub which has a central island bar counter that serves two distinct areas, The entrance is slightly to the right of the front of the building and leads into a family dining area which has a couple of booths in the front right corner, peach fabric bench seats and green fabric chairs, fake beams and arty abstract paintings on the walls. On the left of the building is a public bar area with more traditional bar furniture, a large flat screen TV on the back left wall, a smaller CRT TV on a shelf in the front left corner and various sporting photos and art work on the walls. Outside the large central front bay window is a patio area and behind the pub is a larger beer garden with a dozen or more picnic tables on the left and a children’s play area on the right.

Regular ales are Banks’s Bitter and Mild, Jennings Cocker Hoop, Ringwood Fortyniner, Wychwood Hobgoblin and normally a couple of changing guest beers from Marston’s portfolio such as Brakspear, Jennings, Ringwood or Wychwood beers. But on this occasion there was just Brakspear Oxford Gold (GBG 2012). I had a Fortyniner and a Mild which were both well kept.

A decent selection of Marston’s beers, in consistently good condition have won this pub a reputation and a place in the GBG in the last couple of years, although in my opinion there are some more deserving pubs in the area which have been overlooked. Not really my kind of pub but I would return for a quick drink or if on a crawl of Wombourne with friends.

Soup Dragon left this review about The New Inn

A strangely curved shaped detached Marston's pub and eatery, which is extended at the back, with a patio area at the front and a beer garden at the rear. The upper half is in white painted brick, whislt the lover half is in a sky blue render.

The interior encircles the central serving bar and is in the usual kind of decor for a Marston's foody place; walls of cream, red, green, orange, along with wood panel. There is a cream coloured ceiling and a loud carpet. There were lots of old photographs on the walls, as well as rugby memorabilia. There were a few TVs that had horse racing on and there was no music. I didn't eat here so i can't comment on the food. The service was fine and the clientele was family orientated, as shown by the kiddies grabbing machine that seemed to atteact more attention from the adults.

Beer; usual tap stuff with Jennings cocker-hoop, Wychwood Hobgoblin, Brakspear Gold, Banks's Bitter and a decent enoough Bnaks's MILD on handpull.

A general run-of-the-mill Marston's foody place, however, a superior drinks choice and quality to many. Worth a visit.
