Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Dog & Partridge

A country pub, although hardly quiet in the patio beer garden as the traffic thunders by a few metres away on the elevated M6 motorway. However, once inside, you find a pleasingly traditional multi-room layout with various small seating and (mostly) dining areas around the central bar. It also has five real ales on handpump - Doom Bar, Abbot, Backyard Blonde and a pair from Wye Valley: HPA (£3.90) and Butty Bach.

As the previous reviewer says, the Dog and Partridge has a country pub feel despite only being a four minute drive from Junction 12 of the M6 and situated virtually underneath an elevated section of the said motorway.
A very interesting pub internally with several separate distinct areas and rooms dotted around and along passageways leading from the main L shaped bar. These include three sections in the main bar including a sunken area with four tables opposite the main bar and a smaller separate bar room with TV screen and fireplace. Then at the far end of the bar are two rooms with large bay windows, the larger with bench seating around the edges and an impressive fireplace, the smaller being just big enough to accommodate one round table. Then there is a small “snug room” behind the bar with a couple of tables and a dart board. Then finally there is what looks like a fairly recent extension called the garden room, which vastly increases the inside table count but at the expense of the outside garden, which is now a small outside section laid to Astro turf.
The pub serves five real ales with seemingly GK Abbot , Sharps Doombar and Wye Valley Butty Bach and HPA as permanent ales, and then a guest which was an excellent Green Duck Brewery Session IPA for my visit.
We searched this one out for a lunch time food stop on route to Wales as it scores quite highly on Trip Advisor for its home cooked food and in that respect it did not disappoint with two excellent main meals and very good attentive and friendly service levels from the pub team.
Whilst I sat here tucking into my sizeable lamb shank and supping the citrus session IPA I couldn’t help but think of all those unlucky people at the nearby Hilton Park services.

A large country type pub, yet it is situated just by the M6. The exterior has part rendered brick, with a nice beer garden area. The interior is a maze of little open plan spaces, decorated with wallpaper, rather than the plain wall look, with a nice amount of pictures. It is a pub with a good balance between the food and the beer, you do not feel uncomfortable visiting for one, or the other. The service was very friendly and there was a good and mixed clientele.

Beerwise, well, its the usual stuff, with Banks's MILD smooth, which was very good after being on a MILD drought for the weekend. On handpull, there was Adnams Bitter and Bass.

My football team's homeground is just by this pub, sadly the team do not operate from there! It's a nice place and i visit when i can.
