Soup Dragon left this review about Billas Bar

A modern build with rear patio that replaced the earlier Ship and Rainbow that was on the site - i think it retained the name, but has become the Brewery Tap and the Fermentor and Firkin. It is an uninspring 50s brick build with the only interest coming from the Romanesque windows and white keystones. Anyhow, this is now a bar. The front room is an L-shape, being in white and brick, with a fireplace feature. Some brasses and mirrors (one with Fermentor and Firkin on) were on the walls or dotted about. There are Tvs around, and a large screen one that had Vintage TV on, ironically behind where a DJ had set-up. The music was of course, loud. There are a couple of pool tables and a punchbag machine. The back room is fitted out as a cafe/dinning area - there was nobody in. The service was somewhat direct, the clientele - well, the nice ones just stared at us. Beer; no real ale, usual keg beers with Banks's MILD, which was OK. It isn't really aimed at me, but if i live to be 1000, this will still be one of my worst experiences. Haunting.
