Soup Dragon left this review about The Pool Hayes

A detached 1960s style estate pub in undressed brick and wood panel, with patio and beer garden.

The interior has two rooms - bar and lounge and both are in red and white. The bar has a pool table and a TV and is like a proper bar room, the lounge is in fact a dining area and is irregularly shaped and on a couple of levels. Also having several TVs, all with the Ashes cricket on, it also had a brick fireplace and a lit fire. There was a mixed clientele here and you got the feeling that the pub drew in from a wider audience than just the local estate. I didn't eat so i can't comment on that. The service was fine, but the place looked a little bland as taking away the Xmas decorations, there was little in the way of pictures or ephemera for interest.

Beer; tap stuff - the only handpull was Hook Norton Hookey Bitter, but sadly this was off, and it was the landlord himself that refused to sell it. I had a coke, as a break from a bloating shandy.

Well, without the real ale there is nothing to attract me back, but the place does do food and if the Hookey were back on, i would pop in again. A clear and successful use of two separate rooms, a dining area and a proper bar room - good to see.
