Very disappointed!
After visiting the cricketers for the first time in 18months I was disappointed with the change.
They have cellotaped the new menu over the old old one. YoU can see the old menu under the new one and see that you are bieng charged extra???
No adequate explanation for this. No friendly atmosphere, customer service was non existent.
The bar seemed buzzing with a good vibe.
All in all would never eat there. But would enjoy a beer in the bar

Well heard good things about this pub and its steak so thought will give it a go.
went on 7/09/13. Was busy when we got there in the back room but we managed to find a table
for 5 of us. Sat down why blokes went and got the drinks and looked at menu. Table had not been wiped over since last people. We all decided to try a steak. My daughter (disabled) dont like steak so my husband asked if they do some sort of burger? To which the landlady replied! We are a steak house not a burger van and walked off. Anyway i went to order food. Landlady said can i help in which i replied I would like to order some food please. She said Cant order yet as there is 2 more lots of people in front if you. Pointing more or less shouting showing me where they was. Standing in shock i returned to the table said we couldnt order. So we drank our drinks very quickly and left!!!
Why run a steak house if you cant cope with the demands of customers??
we would have waited for it to cook having a few drinks in the meantime, but wasnt going to bother
with her attitude.
Try this pub if you want. But you have been warned!!!

This is a detached Victorian pub with patio area, left isolated as a product of its time in a landscape that has massively changed. The pub is in cream render, with black paintwork on the pediments over the old entrances, that give some decorative feature. It is an elongated cottage styled pub, possibly incorporating building next door (shown by the bowing in the shape of the building, perhaps) - there is now a low-level extension to the side. The interior has a couple of rooms. The extension is for the dining room, which is quite narrow, and decorated with a few Baggies floags. The food prices are very reasonable and they do 16, 32 and 50oz rump steaks - i must go back and try one (16oz of course!). The main room is an L-shape, more or less. It is in coffee and cream, with a white ceiling and some blue to go with the odd Baggies picture. The seats have been re-covered in brown and look tidy, as do the bogs now (see review below)! There is a dart board and a TV was showing motor racing. The service was friendly and it was populated by friendly locals. The music was 60s based. Beer; usual tap stuff, with a decent enough Banks's MILD. One handpull, with Marston's EPA on. A nice little place, tidy, with a real ale, keg MILD and a great menu - i will return to try the steaks! Worth a visit.

I have visited here a number of times recently and have listed good points(and some bad)as listed below:

GOOD POINTS
1. Food - excellent value for money. This pub offers mainly English meals/currys averaging £5.00 per course. There are also many meals starting at £3.99. Portions are excellent, all home cooked food - i can recommend the home cooked chips!
2. Family Friendly
3. Car park at rear
4. Never had a problem with the beer - always a good pint

NOT SO GOOD POINTS
1. Small back room, therefore gets busy rather quickly. You are best arriving around 6.00pm, otherwise will have a long wait especially on a Saturday. I have visited on a Saturday before, ordered at 7.00pm and ate at 8.30pm - not good. As soon as you have finished you are usually asked to leave the table as there are other people still waiting to be seated. Not ideal if you are celebrating a birthday and want to make a night of it.
2. Lack of customer service - Landlord is always polite and helpful, however landlady is a different kettle of fish. Have seen too many instances where responses to customers have been abrupt. The worst being the other night where a family asked if it was possible to hire the room for a wake after a funeral, her response being that she could not talk now as she was sorting out food and promptly walked off. The family's shocked, stunned faces said it all!

Overall great food, however get in early to avoid any delays.
