Must say I had high hopes for this one, being part of the Black Country ales chain, but was extremely disappointed.

It is very basic inside, far too much so for my taste. You enter into the bar, where a group of locals had lined up there chairs against along the bar making it difficult to get in to get a drink, especially when they don't acknowledge you're even there. Luckily the bar staff were more friendly and were the saving grace.

There is a further room inbetween the two, and another to the side, which appeared to twin up as a store room.

Beer was surprisingly too warm again for me, and didn't seem well kept. My pint of Fireside tasted like a cross between a best bitter and a cider.

Disappointing

UPDATE:
Layout as below. The pub refurb has finished and it is now a white and blue exterior and a part of the Black Country Ales chain. The interior is now in wood panel and in beige, white and red, with the darts, pool and sky TV still in place. The service was fine and the clientele mixed, watching the Man Utd game.

Tap stuff with Banks's MILD, but two BCA's; Fireside and Winter Warmer were on handpull, as well as a decent St George's Brewery's Ho Ho Ho.

The place has gone from a basic one to a decent one - i will return here, only when Utd are not playing.

A detached brick pub, with white rendered exterior, undergoing some refurbishment at the moment

The interior had a bar and a lounge (which i did not see). The bar had a pool table (40p a game) and a couple of dartboards, though the oche for the one dart board is a massive trip hazard when playing pool - a court case awaits! The interior decor is white and wood panel, with the higher part of the walls given over to that nicotine stained yellowish colour. There are a few old photos and music was supplied from the a music channel on Sky TV. The service was fine, the place being emptyish.

Beer; no real ale, just tap stuff, with Banks's MILD, which was ok.

This was a basic kind of place, which, as we got to play pool and could have played darts, whilst having a MILD, made a visit worth while. Had there been no MILD, i would have walked.
